Careers
Work as a yard spotter.
We hire yard spotters, also called yard jockeys or hostlers, who take pride in careful work and look out for the people around them.
What you’ll do
- Spot and pull trailers between dock doors and parking
- Run a full pre-trip inspection on your yard truck before every shift
- Fuel and clean your truck every shift
- Couple trailers by the nine-step procedure, tug test included
- Back trailers into doors and spots with the setup you learn in orientation
- Report collisions, injuries, spills, and hazards right away
What we look for
- A valid driver’s license (some sites also require a CDL)
- Patience behind the wheel, even when the yard is busy
- The habit of getting out to look when you’re not sure
- Respect for customers, coworkers, and supervisors
- Yard, driving, or warehouse experience is a plus
Why Cornerstone
What you can count on
-
Safety comes first
Our goal is zero harm. If you’re not sure the path is clear, you stop, get out, and look.
-
Training up front
Orientation covers yard rules, inspections, coupling, backing, and defensive driving, with videos and demonstrations.
-
Backup on every shift
At our 24-hour campus, first, second, third, and weekend shifts each have a supervisor, and dispatch is a phone call away.
-
Inspections every shift
Every yard truck gets a full pre-trip inspection before each shift, and problems go on the daily inspection form.
