Cornerstone Logistics tractor-trailer at a distribution center dock

Yard, dock, and warehouse operations

We keep trailers moving and docks fed on every shift.

For manufacturers and distribution centers, Cornerstone Logistics provides spotters, drivers, dock and warehouse crews, and the managers who run them, around the clock.

  • Veteran-owned Cornerstone family
  • Safety first, zero harm
  • 24/7 operational support

By the numbers

A yard we work every day.

Our spotters move the trailers at a manufacturing campus that runs 24 hours a day, with a supervisor on every shift. This is the size of that yard.

  • 5,300 spots and pulls in an average week
  • 450 trailer entries a day
  • 1,500 trailers on site
  • 32 parking locations to keep straight

In the yard

We keep the right trailer at the right door.

Spotting means tight turns, blind spots, and people on foot, so our spotters work by written procedures for backing, coupling, and inspections.

How Cornerstone Logistics keeps a yard moving
  1. Spots and pulls

Spotters pull loaded and emptied trailers off the doors and spot the next ones in their place.

  2. Backed in at 1 mph or less

Spotters pull three spots past the opening, set a 45-degree angle, turn on the flashers, and tap the horn twice before they back in.

  3. Every hookup tug-tested

Once the fifth wheel locks, the spotter does a tug test to confirm the connection before the trailer moves.

  4. Gate check-in

Gate staff check trucks in and out and control who gets into the yard.

How we work

What getting started looks like.

You see the plan, the staffing, and the KPIs we’ll track before our first shift.

  1. Walk the site

We walk your gate, yard, docks, and warehouse floor, and learn your shifts, volumes, and trouble spots.

  2. Plan the team

We agree on headcount, shifts, safety rules, and the KPIs we’ll track.

  3. Staff and train

We deploy quickly. Spotters start with orientation on your site’s layout, docks, and rules.

  4. Run and report

Our supervisors run the shifts, and we report on the KPIs we agreed on.

Safety

Your safety. Our priority.

Our goal is zero harm. The first priority is getting everyone on the team home safe at the end of every shift.

  • 20 mph or less anywhere in the yard
  • Three points of contact climbing in and out of the cab
  • Hands-free phones only, with one ear uncovered
  • If a spotter loses sight of a pedestrian, the truck stops until they’re safe

Who we work with

Industries we support

  • Manufacturing and industrial

Parts come in and finished goods go out on the production schedule.

  • Appliances and automotive

Products are big and heavy, and parts have to reach the line on time.

  • Warehousing, distribution, and fulfillment

Sites run many dock doors, and trailers turn over all day.

  • Retail logistics

Volume rises and falls with the seasons.

  • Consumer products, food, and beverage

Inventory turns fast, so an hour lost in the yard costs money.

  • Supply chain operations

Freight moves between plants, warehouses, and customers on tight schedules.

The Cornerstone family
